This course was inspired by a book, Dermatology Essentials for Medical Assistants.

The author created the book to educate medical assistants upon their entry into dermatology and help dermatology practices provide a starting point for new staff. This easy-reading guide allows any medical assistant to hit the ground running in a new office.

The book contains information on basic dermatology terms, clinic flow, procedure set up and break down, and everything else you need to know to walk in and contribute to the medical team on day one. The book is available for purchase on Amazon, but is not required for the course.

The Dermatology Essentials for Medical Assistants on-line course is interactive, contains videos, photos, and has more content than the book. It is not designed to be comprehensive training, as specific processes will vary from office to office, but rather provide a foundation on which to build.
